Who We Are

The Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR) is a non-profit, Pakistan- located research and dissemination organization that promotes public discourse on key policy issues utilizing cutting-edge research and analysis. Since its inception in 2013, it has focused, in partnership with the International Growth Center, on the key development pillars of Cities (clean air, jobs etc.), Energy (sustainability), Firms
(productivity etc.), and State (taxes, trade policy, service delivery etc.). Our focus on climate change is across the four key pillars. Another emerging cross-cutting theme is exports and the employment it generates.

CDPR is governed by a board of directors with a vast Pakistan and international policy experience at leading universities, Government of Pakistan policy advisory committees, public company boards and international development organizations. Our operations are managed by a young and dynamic team educated at world class universities and with diverse research backgrounds. We are advised by senior retired civil servants, leading private sector representatives and academics with international standing.

In addition to being the key dissemination partner for the International Growth Centre (IGC) in Pakistan, CDPR partners with various local and international universities and research institutions for its research and dissemination activities. These partnerships give us the flexibility to host/sponsor policy dialogues and dissemination events in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Karachi and thus broaden participation in policy dialogue.

CDPR’s global cohort of non-resident fellows allows tapping into a large and invaluable pool of expertise for constituting research teams, discussion panels and conducting peer reviews of analytical work.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote an eco-system of policy dialogue and broad-based reform ownership – among federal and sub-national policy makers, the business community, researchers, journalists and concerned citizens – to achieve Pakistan’s development objectives.
