The Consortium for Development Policy Research held a session of its Lahore Policy Exchange on “Revising Pakistan’s Polio Eradication Strategies” on Friday, 25th October from 3:15pm to 5:15pm at 19-A FCC Scheme Maratab Ali Road, Gulberg IV, Lahore.

Pakistan has an unacceptably high child mortality and morbidity rate. One of the main contributors to these is polio, that is preventable through timely and effective vaccination. Despite funding the Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) and the Polio Eradication Initiative, these programs are not achieving the desired results. Setbacks in the polio eradication efforts make daily news. In support of the governments’ efforts, LUMS faculty, have found constraints in the demand and supply side of the issue, rooted in socio-cultural and administrative determinants for effectively eradicating polio from Pakistan.
